The Driver from Downtown The night was cold. A wintry breeze flowed through the old man’s hands, like a river finding its way through a rocky landscape. The city’s screams resonated throughout the empty street. The old man was starting to feel vulnerable. He heard two stray cats fighting in a nearby alleyway. Then, a couple in one of the apartment buildings shouting at one another. Finally, a loud bang in the distance, which silenced all the other noises surrounding him.
